Body-Mind Centering, integrates movement re-education and hands-on re-patterning. The work is based on the rich and varied sources of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and developmental principles.
The School for Body-Mind Centering (SBMC) was founded by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in 1973 in New York City and later moved to Amherst, Massachusetts, USA. Currently SMBC offers courses and training opportunities in USA and other programs are licensed in Europe.
Fundamentally our courses offer methods and processes that enable participants to experience and explore each body system and their integration in our movement patterns. Experiential anatomy involves a wide range of dynamic approaches and physical activities.
The underlying premise is that we learn from our personal process and that this becomes an informed and insightful starting point for our work with others. The journey we take leads to greater awareness and deeper understanding of ourselves as human beings. It helps us to understand how the mind is expressed through the body, and the body through the mind.
Body-Mind Centering® and BMC® are trade marks of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen.
