The Somatic Movement Education program continues a new cycle and dates for 2017- 2020 are confirmed. We have new exciting venues, in Edinburgh, the Roman city of Bath and a mountain lodge in Snowdonia, Wales.
This program explores the richness of the inter-relationships between body, mind, movement and touch, in the context of a dynamic approach based on the experiential study of all the body systems and human developmental movement processes. Throughout the training you will learn the fundamental layering and interweaving of principles that establish the richness of embodiment practices; in guided explorations, in partnering through movement or hands-on techniques. We use touch, movement, sound and verbal dialogue to access the body’s wisdom. The nature of this self inquiry enables us to work more knowingly with others, embodying anatomical and physiological principles related to our physical structures.
The SME material has immediate applications to movement based disciplines— such as dance, yoga, sports, martial arts – and to other therapeutic modalities such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychotherapy, bodywork and massage.
The program is of more than 500 hour leading students to qualify as Somatic Movement Educators, and is accredited by The School for Body-Mind Centering®.
It includes 12 courses: 4 developmental courses, 7 courses on the body systems, 1 course about professional issues and a one day course of Competency. To register please go to the course registration page or contact us form.
